So this anthology made the last couple of days very hard (erection pun #1). I am going to start with the format of the book and move my way through all of my raging thoughts about it.
The format was set up like any other anthology, except each book was started with a card from a library catalog. It was amazing. I worked in a library for three years. From the Dewey decimal system that I remember, the author did not play around and put in the real numbers. It made me have a super nerdy moment before every story started which got me really into the stories because the way to my bed is clearly through my brain.
The stories were all amazing, except one. One of them wasn’t what I would have called erotica. It wasn’t a badly written story, but it wasn’t as strongly sexual or sexy as the others. It was the one that was talking about how alcohol is bad and is written from the perspective of moonshine. The story was well written, had a great dialect that was consistent, but it just wasn’t sexy.
The rest of the stories were of varied genres. It kept the stories refreshing. Every story offered something new. Most of the stories were drastically different from ones I had read before. Most of them had mild kink, but even the more vanilla stories were exciting. Caraway has quite a collection. I hope that she puts out another one when she amasses more stories of this caliber.
Of all the erotica anthologies and erotica novels I have read, this is by far the most well written and exciting. It has only stories that are well written, Caraway did not accept something that was not amazing unlike a lot of anthologies that have some stories that are clearly filler just to make it a certain length. This is a must read for erotica fans, both straight and lesbian (I would not suggest this one for gay men as all of the stories are clearly written for a female readers).
